Previously on Ultimate Chelsea XI:
Gr8-1 looked at the goalkeepers. In the end it came down to a straight battle between Carlo Cudicini and Petr Cech, In a somewhat surprising move Gr8-1 chose to pick Cudicini for his millions of memorable special saves, as oppose to the reliability, solidity and brilliance of Petr Cech.

And now Gr8-1 presents: the defenders.

Strikers may get all the headlines. They get to celebrate when they score, Defenders unfortunately would look silly if they put their shirts over their head and started running around after a last ditch tackle. However their contribution is just as essential. Chelsea have been blessed in the defenders list:

Right Back = No contest. Dan Petrescu gets in. He could play as a winger, or a wing back. Defending was not his only job. The guy scored goals (and aesthetically good goals at that too) and he set up team mates for goals aplenty. While he may be one of English football's most under-rated players, Chelsea fans always appreciate his contribution and love for the team, and he even named his daughter Chelsea!!!! (now thats dedication)
On a side note, honourable mention for Albert Ferrer and Mario Melchiot.

Centre Defence: Really 4 defenders stick to mind. Marcel Desailly, William Gallas, Frank Lebouef and of course the most successful Chelsea captain ever John Terry.
Terry's position is almost certain, he's won trophies, and is one of the few players to come out of the Chelsea youth system in the premierleague years and really reach the top. For that reason he is to be treasured.
The other choices are slightly hard. William Gallas was maybe our best ever gifted defender. He was technically and naturally good. He could also play left back, he hated it, but thats where he goes in my team. Sorry Le Saux.

The final centre half position is between two frenchmen. Marcel Desailly is one of the greatest ever. He Joined Chelsea at a time when many thought he was "passed it". Well he gave Chelsea many good years. Lebeouf meanwhile was probably more notorious for his long range Bullet shots that made Jon Arne Riise's shots look like pellets. That is reason enough to pick Lebeouf, but I'm going to go for the solidity and legacy of Marcel Desailly.

So a we stand the team looks like this:

-------------
----Cudicini-------------

Petrescu----Terry----Desaily----Gallas

------------------????------------------

----????---------????--------------????

------------????--------????------------

Now is when its gonna get tough, tune in next week to find out the midfielders in my Ultimate Chelsea XI

there was le saux, who i gave much thought too, but gallas was too good (he was a bit of an a*se when he wanted to leave) for the team as a player to be left out.

I figured he played many times under mourinho at left back so to accomodate desailly he could be left back. (Where in fairness he was as good as any left back, and hell even played there ahead of del horno who was a natural left back)

This is a World Cup and in the morning, meaning no trapped in Spain after winning in celebration of flashbacks scenes. Although few goals, often tedious, can I still miss involuntarily group. At that time, was in a style, no one left, alive, are hard, all has the show was a mystery, let your curiosity and excited to guess, No one moved, like all my childhood was happy, sad part. However, we will grow, as the group will end, entered the knockout, like the adult world is cruel, only to win, so cruel, but also so fierce, let a person cannot bear the but again. But the final like? Old age? But as already to leave the glorious moment.

A World Cup, is a life, the same is irreversible and full of stories, different feeling, the World Cup is on the surface of the comedy, and life. But there is a big different, the World Cup, four years in our life, there are a lot of, can wait to finish. It's interesting that life often many games, to really make people feel dolorous, but life is dull and heavy, some itself. So, the World Cup, absolutely for the artificial game, but most truly happy to give fans and comfort. Although the time adjustable from South Africa to Beijing, will be hard, like two days before midnight, I didn't wake up at will. But except for, what more can I say? The World Cup ended the game, we started again, you and I are living on each of the athletes, refueled! And sincerely for the past month, you in my words to you in advance of the meeting. Said, wish you are moving in his World Cup well on all!
