Football and tackles

Posted 03-03-2008 at 07:10 AM by gr8-1
I raise my hand and ask for my readers ears, only for a couple of minutes.

"Who here likes a crunching tackle?" I'm no psychic but I'm guessing quite a few have expressed disgust at the thought of enjoying a slide tackle, while the others just whistle and look away. Well we all know how a slide tackle can look cool, usually when the ball is won.

One tackle I didn't enjoy was Martin Taylor's tackle on Eduardo. It even made Eboue wince!!!
Now I hate to sound like a broken record but let me stress this is not an attack on Martin Taylor but rather an overview of the plague going around football.

Martin Taylor was Apologetic and certainly doesn't deserve the death threats he has received. He didn't win the ball and his studs were high, But even then it is hard to imagine that he went out with the intention to hurt Eduardo. No football player does unless they admit it later on in their auto-biography, a la Roy Keane.

Regardless of intention Martin Taylor has injured a player who is predicted to miss 9 months and may never return..............the same player as he was.
Taylor is given a 3 match ban, me personally I thought it was lenient and a lengthy ban should be the punishment. But that's not the point. I will get to the point.............. So with Taylor out of the way, the true villains of this blog are the FA, and certain others.

Jeremie Aliadiere was given a 4 match ban for being disgustingly sick and mistreating human life in such a dire and inhumane way. I mean how could he soft-slap Mascherano like that?
The FA need to sort out their inconsistencies.

Something else that needs sorting is the whole mentality that comes out from a tackle like Taylor's. The death threats are extreme and about as welcome as Ashley Cole currently is in wife Cheryl Tweedy's bed. However the flip side of the coin also needs a shine up.
Taylor is defended rigorously because he didn't mean it, yet if a player goes into a tackle and misses then it's called rash and a heavy ban is called for? the reasoning being, "oh he could have seriously injured".

I'm sorry but isn't that exactly what Taylor did? Fair enough he didn't mean it and to say otherwise is to question his integrity, but isn't it questioning any other player's integrity when they miss a tackle and it's said "intent to hurt was there"

So I'm not saying let's get flaming pitchforks and hound Taylor, nor am I taking the sympathetic approach.

I just think some rational thinking is needed from the FA and certain others.

he was apologetic? hmm. that faint sorry after he saw Da Silva's leg in 2 pieces? doesn't sound apologetic to me.
nor does the fact that he ever really said "sorry" but then.
edit: in 3 pieces actually

This is a World Cup and in the morning, meaning no trapped in Spain after winning in celebration of flashbacks scenes. Although few goals, often tedious, can I still miss involuntarily group. At that time, was in a style, no one left, alive, are hard, all has the show was a mystery, let your curiosity and excited to guess, No one moved, like all my childhood was happy, sad part. However, we will grow, as the group will end, entered the knockout, like the adult world is cruel, only to win, so cruel, but also so fierce, let a person cannot bear the but again. But the final like? Old age? But as already to leave the glorious moment.

A World Cup, is a life, the same is irreversible and full of stories, different feeling, the World Cup is on the surface of the comedy, and life. But there is a big different, the World Cup, four years in our life, there are a lot of, can wait to finish. It's interesting that life often many games, to really make people feel dolorous, but life is dull and heavy, some itself. So, the World Cup, absolutely for the artificial game, but most truly happy to give fans and comfort. Although the time adjustable from South Africa to Beijing, will be hard, like two days before midnight, I didn't wake up at will. But except for, what more can I say? The World Cup ended the game, we started again, you and I are living on each of the athletes, refueled! And sincerely for the past month, you in my words to you in advance of the meeting. Said, wish you are moving in his World Cup well on all!
