The Independiente ace was close to becoming a Toro in January, only for the move to fall apart because of financials. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old still has his heart set on a move to Turin.

“In January, the transfer was delayed by a small sum of money, but I was seduced by Toro and I hope that they sign me in the summer,” insisted Denis, who has a formidable strike rate of 28 goals in 53 games for Independiente.

“I am ready and have told the President that I am leaving in July. Now I just hope that Urbano Cairo takes the chance and signs me.

“I can guarantee the fans that I will work ferociously and will score lots of goals – I want to be a key man like my idol Batistuta.”

Denis already has Italian experience under his belt, though his spell with Cesena in 2002 was instantly forgettable as he managed just three goals in 28 appearances with the Seahorses. He was just 19 at the time, however, so that is not about to detract Torino from making a renewed bid for him in the summer.

there's never gonna be another Batistuta, so Denis best aim his hopes a little lower.
