Perth Glory's quiet off-season has been given a boost with the re-signing of defender David Tarka on a new one-year deal.
The winner of the Glory's club champion award in 2006/07, Tarka missed all of last year following a serious hamstring injury in his first game, the latest in a series of fitness setbacks.
But after reportedly turning down a big offer from A-League rivals Wellington Phoenix, Tarka will stay in Perth to attempt to re-establish a career which had already brought one stint in Europe and Socceroos recognition.
"There are challenges ahead both personally and for all of us as a group and I look forward to tackling them head-on and making sure we break into the top four and play finals football," Tarka said.
"I have a fantastic support group around me in Perth who are entirely focused on helping me achieve my personal goals on the playing field and I'm extremely grateful for that."
Perth currently have 11 contracted players for the 2008/09 season and coach Dave Mitchell said Tarka's signature was a big boost.
