Serbian midfielder Zvonimir Vukic has told the higher authorities at Shakhtar Donetsk that he will not leave the club in January.

The Ukrainian club’s owner, Rinat Akhmetov, wants to sell the player – who is out of contract in the summer – but Vukic is not happy with this and is refusing to be put up for sale by Mircea Lucescu’s outfit.

"They should have told me before they made the decision to sell me,” said an upset Vukic, who is threatening to sit out the remainder of his contract and leave on a free transfer in six months.

“I wanted to go away for years – they were torturing me for three years, so I'm not interested that they want to make some money with me.

“I don't care! I have no need to hurry. Now everything is in my hands and I will find myself a new club at the end of the season when I will leave the club for free.”

Vukic was transferred to Shakhtar in 2003 from Partizan Belgrade and spent a period on loan at Portsmouth in the 2005-06 season, during which time he made nine appearances for Pompey, scoring once.

The Serbia international is now angling for a move back to The Premier League by stating his desire for another spell in the English top flight.

"I would easily go back to England but it is too early to talk about that,” he added.

“Now I have to wait to end my sad story with Shakhtar!"
