well the draw for the Euro 2008 championships has been made....and what a tournament we are in for.
World champs Italy have France again (as they did in the world cup 06 final and the Euro 2008 qualifiers) in group C, but add to that Holland and Romania and we have ourselves the group of death.
so what happened to the hosts? Switzerland were drawn in group A alongside the czech republic and Portugal. Its certainly a difficult group and on top of that the group is finalised with Turkey, (who are certainly no turkeys)
The other hosts, Austria, who had their own fans petition to have them removed from euro 2008 to "save the country from embarrasing themselves", (Hell if the petition works, then hopefully England can sneak in:laugh: )
well either way Austria are in group B and incidentally enough they are joined by -england conquerors- Croatia, Germany and Poland.
so what of Group D? Well holders Greece start their unlikely defence of the crown against Sweden, -the ever inconsistent- Spain and last but not least Russia.
so what is the general consensus? me personally i cant wait to see how group C ends up with italy, france, romania and holland. (we've seen italy-france and holland-romania in qualifying). It is a shame though that 2 class teams will miss out. I'm hoping for italy and holland to make it through.
as for winners? well ive mentioned before that i consider croatia the dark horses, so they could win it. But im going for france or italy. Italy always seem to do enough in tournaments but they were disappointing in the last euro 2004. Czech republic are also possible winners and with the best keeper in the world anything is possible.
